The Child Center of Pennsylvania is proud to announce Brian Houchins of Mechanicsburg as the recipient of the 2023 Community Recognition Award. This prestigious award is presented yearly to an individual who has demonstrated distinctive dedication to improving the lives of children in our community.
Brian Houchins, a dedicated elementary school instructor and community volunteer, has been an unwavering advocate for children’s training and welfare. Over the previous ten years, his efforts have significantly impacted the lives of countless youngsters in Mechanicsburg and surrounding areas. Houchins’ initiatives include establishing a free after-school tutoring program for underprivileged college students, weekend workshops focusing on literacy and numeracy skills for at-risk youth, and leading a successful community-driven marketing campaign to upgrade local playgrounds, making certain secure and inclusive play spaces for all children.
